So often when starting a business there comes a point when you need extra cash. At this time many women find that traditional lenders aren’t available as they see your venture as too high risk; or you don’t have a solid business plan in place; or your need more comprehensive financial statements. AWE’s loan program is designed specifically to help women with these types of challenges.

AWE’s Loan Program is committed to helping Alberta women advance in business. We can provide small business start-up and expansion loans up to $100,000 to eligible applicants. You’ll find at AWE that it's about MORE than just lending money! It's about working with you to ensure your idea is viable, helping you become Loan Ready by guiding you toward a successful Loan Application, and it's about Loan Aftercare - so after Loan Approval your AWE Business Advisor offers ongoing guidance and support to you and your business.

AWE is funded by Western Economic Diversification and our business advising services are provided at no cost to you. You'll need a Business Plan, and our Business Advisors are available to help you as you complete one. Your Advisors will guide you through our process, explaining our Loan Program criteria and how the application process works. Our Business Advising service is confidential.

Our loans are fully repayable and, like other lenders, we look for your equity contribution and personal guarantee. Not all loan applications are approved, but we'll always tell you why, and help you to consider other options.  

Once you receive a loan from us, we work with you over the term of the loan to offer guidance, analysis and advice. Our organization also supports you with business skill development and networking opportunities.
